Dorian Dumont plays Aphex Twin and Echo Collective plays Mirror Image

Contemporary, experimental classical music in perfect symbiosis with immersive and hypnotic soundscapes in 4D: a unique, sonic experience!

Echo Collective is a Brussels-based duo dedicated to creating new sounds in the studio. They consider their quest for new ways to experience music as one of their primary goals. This results in surprising collaborations, curations, and creations, including a brand-new composition, Mirror Image, for 4DSOUND, originating from Berlin's MONOM, located in Funkhaus Berlin, one of the world's leading centers for spatial sound, which also houses Nils Frahm's studio.

Echo Collective has regularly graced our stage in recent years: they headlined the WINTER TALES festival in 2019 with plays Amnesia by Radiohead and returned two years later with 12 Conversations with Thilo Heinzmann, the posthumous album of Jóhann Jóhannsson. This time, they can be seen and heard in their most intimate and pure setting with a special setup featuring a unique 4D sound experience.

During this show by Echo Collective, you will hear the best of contemporary, experimental classical music merging with immersive and hypnotic soundscapes.

Pianist Dorian Dumont arrived in Brussels from Montpellier about ten years ago, where he studied jazz and free improvisation. Solo, he strips the rave classics of Aphex Twin down to their core. On APHEXionS (2021), Dumont expresses his love for one of his greatest musical heroes. He translates the music to grand piano, giving the tracks a whole new dimension. As a seasoned (jazz) pianist, he improvises on the various themes. The result is a homage that captures both the simple beauty and the rebellious complexity of Aphex Twin. But above all, it sounds like refreshing new music.
