"And just like the seasons shift you'd always change your mind..." (Meskerem Mees)

As a sign of hope and light in dark days, the transhistorical ensemble Zefiro Torna, with a select collective of musicians, gives a new musical interpretation to the concept of Christmas concert.

The authentic voices of internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Meskerem Mees and top soprano Lore Binon resonate heavenly in a cycle of pre-Christian 'light' songs, medieval, Renaissance and Baroque Christmas music and songs by Meskerem Mees.
Pianowizzard and composer Jean-Luc Fafchamps tailor-made contemporary arrangements for the ensemble for a special set of instruments featuring folk guitar, violin, theorbo/lute, cimbalom, percussion and prepared piano.
The musical keywords are friction and upheaval. Instruments with different historical backgrounds and temperaments clash and search for harmonic agreement. Meskerem Mees' soulful voice and Lore Binon's pure classical voice become polymorphously intertwined, supported by the musicians' background chorus.
This production was commissioned by Concertgebouw Brugge.
